Laureal Foundation Community development Program
What about Community development ?
In a continent where poverty is a persistent problem, community development is pivotal to help empower people, build a strong and supportive society. Leaders of many African countries are not doing enough to reduce poverty in the continent and it is not looking like there will be any substantial change within the next decade.
The issue of poverty has been a lingering problem for decades in Africa. In 2022, it was reported that more than half of the extremely poor people in the world are found in Africa. And this numbers keeps increasing due to high population growth rate. It is projected that by the year 2030, Africa will account for over 80% of the world’s poor people.
The rate of poverty in the continent is troubling and this is where The Laureal Foundation comes in to contribute its own quota to humanity and empower as many people as possible through various community development programs. At the Foundation we have rolled out different programs and initiatives aimed at improving individual, social, and economic conditions of certain communities across Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria. Some of these programs are assisting individuals to startup businesses, literacy programs provide vocational training for people, health and wellness programs and youth development programs.
One of our core programs is setting up people to own their own businesses and 15 men in Cameroon have been given motorcycles with 20% down payment which they will be paying back in installment over a period of time. With this initiate many have benefitted from it as they have been giving a means of livelihood. Mr Njoya from Cameroon is a beneficiary and was grateful to the Foundation for the support he said “I lost my job as a security man and I have been struggling to feed my family for the past 7 months, it has not been easy seeing your children stay hungry but now I make enough daily to put food on the table and carter for basic needs, all thanks to Laureal Foundation”.
Also, in Nigeria 10 widows have been supported financially to start up small scale businesses (SMEs) of their choice; this has empowered them to be self-sufficient. They are also closely monitored to ensure the businesses are sustained and they are offered support if need be. In addition, over 20 elderly, 30 orphans and the impoverished in Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon have been provided with basic healthcare for those that have one ailment or the other.

More needs to be done to boost community development with that we are calling on the general public and well-meaning individuals because we believe in the power of collective action. We remain resilient in creating thriving communities and together we can build a more prosperous future for many.
